What is diabetes?

There might be symptoms of diabetes when your blood glucose levels, also known as blood sugar, is too high. A Diabetologist is a Doctor who specializes in the treatment of Diabetes.

Insulin

  • People with Type 1 need to take insulin everyday via an injection, pump or inhaler. Only with type 2 or gestational diabetes require this med.

  • Those with type 2 diabetes may take daily dose of pills and liquids (and sometime insulin too) to keep blood sugar in a healthy range.

Home Glucose meter

  • This treatment starts at home where you test your glucose levels everyday by monitoring your glucose levels you plan to eat food. The amount and quality of food.

Diet and exercise

  • By planning what to eat in a day and maintaining it consistently every day. By calculating calories as per the weight and taking good amount of supplements will help you stabilize or burn excess fat helps you to stay fit. Measuring and monitoring the pulse and heart rate. Burn 1/4th of calories you take in a day by exercising.

How it can be detected?

Diabetologist will conduct a general examination and will particularly focus on searching for complications related to your Diabetes. These generally involve the Cardiovascular system (Heart and Blood vessels), the eyes (Retinal vessels), Kidneys and Nerves

Symptoms

Type 1 Symptoms

Weight loss (This can affect Some people with type 1 diabetes and could be a warning sign if you’ve not changed your diet or workout routine) Frequent Urination (The constant urge to urinate, even if you have recently, this makes the affected uncomfortable) Irritability (Some cases of type 1 diabetes may cause confusion and anxiety that make you testy) Blurry Vision (This is a sign that your diabetes isn’t under control when blood sugar levels are high for a long time. Water is pulled into the lens, causing it to swell.) Fruity Breath (if your breathy smells similarly to acetone. It may be a sign of high levels of ketones in your blood)

Type 2 Symptoms

Excessive Thirst (This is stronger than regular thirst on a hot day. Water doesn’t quenchit, and your mouth often feels cottony and dry.) Unceasing Hunger (Comparable to being unstatisfied after you’ve eaten a full and balanced meal over and over) Headaches (Moderate to severe pain that may occur more frequently than usual) Dry Mouth (That cottony feeling, often accomplished by excessive thirst)

Gestational diabetes symptoms

Feeling thirsty (You may want to drink a lot more than you usually do) Feeling tired (If you feel fatigued, even early in the day, it may be more than the strain of being pregnant that’s causing you to be so tired) Having a dry mouth (A dry mouth may go hand in hand with your increased thirst)
